About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Baltimore’s vibrant Riverside neighborhood, Afters Cafe is a charming and cozy spot that seamlessly blends the best of café culture with unique Asian-inspired treats. Specializing as a cafe, bubble tea store, coffee shop, pastry shop, and tea house, this inviting space offers a refreshing twist on classic comfort foods and beverages, making it a must-visit destination for locals and visitors seeking an authentic yet playful culinary experience.

Step inside Afters Cafe, and you’ll immediately notice the warm, laid-back atmosphere—an oasis that’s both relaxing and stimulating without being overwhelming. The aesthetic is lovely and thoughtfully curated, featuring a rotating shelf of local artists’ work and an inviting collection of board games, offering customers a perfect excuse to linger over their orders or gather with friends for a leisurely afternoon. Reviewers consistently praise the welcoming and sweet nature of the staff, especially Andy, who adds a personal touch that feels like genuine hospitality rather than just service.

Afters Cafe shines brightest with their inventive menu, which creatively marries traditional Korean and Thai flavors with beloved café classics. A standout treat is the Nutella Boong-UH-Pang Taiyaki (Afters Fish Waffle)—a freshly made, warm fish-shaped waffle filled with smooth, indulgent Nutella. Customers describe it as perfectly warm, crispy on the outside, and delightfully soft within, encapsulating the nostalgic charm of this Korean street snack. The red bean taiyaki is another fan favorite, praised for its fresh, just-made quality and comforting sweetness. Pair these pastries with a cup of their expertly crafted cappuccino or iced coffee for a balanced touch between sweet and robust flavors.

Beverage enthusiasts will appreciate Afters Cafe’s thoughtfully diverse drink selection. From the creamy, dreamy tiramisu-inspired drinks to refreshing iced teas and unique offerings like Thai bubble tea or the intriguingly rich banana bubble tea, each sip offers vibrant layers of flavor. What truly sets the drinks apart is the café’s willingness to customize sweetness levels, reflecting a real care for individual tastes, as several patrons have noted. The London Fog tea and fruity Citron Honey tea are particularly popular, celebrated for their depth and balance. Fans of yogurt shakes will find the creamy taro yogurt to be a luscious, velvety delight that’s both refreshing and comforting.

Beyond just great food and drinks, Afters Cafe creates a welcoming environment that encourages connection and relaxation. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bubble tea, indulging in a sweet snack, or settling in for a creative study session, you’ll find the vibe perfectly suited to your mood. The café’s charm lies in its blend of playful innovation and authentic flavors, coupled with a vibe that’s simultaneously chill and stimulating—ideal for those who appreciate small details and handcrafted quality.

In summary, Afters Cafe is more than just a bubble tea spot or pastry shop—it’s a cozy community hub where traditional Asian treats meet modern café culture, all served with friendliness and flair. Its blend of warm, fresh waffles, customizable and flavorful beverages, and inviting ambiance promises a unique and memorable experience. For anyone in Baltimore looking to chill, chat, or savor a delicious bite paired with an exceptional drink, Afters Cafe is a destination worth returning to time and time again.

Got a red bean fish guy and he was okay looking. She made it right in front of me so he was quite warm and delicious. They don’t have the pricing for some of the food items. Vibes were chill. Not overstimulating but also lots of things to look at if you open your eyes. There’s a shelf with local artists’ artwork and some board games which is neat. Would come here again.

I’ve been here a few times and the workers are really sweet! Andy is really nice :) I’ve tried a few things, like the chai latte, Thai tea, bubble tea, and the red bean taiyaki. I didn’t know this but you can adjust sweetness level. I’d recommend that because normally the drinks are on the sweeter side. The taiyaki was freshly made too! The bubble tea was not my favorite just because the boba was mushy that day. Atmosphere is cozy. Plenty of people that come in and sit down to chat or do work. I’ve never tried the froyo but so many cute little kids come in for that and it is ADORABLE. All in all, a cute place :)

Friendly service, delicious drinks (I tried the dark chocolate orange latte and loved it) and tasty desserts in the case! The decor inside is cute and the café is clean and comfortable! I'm so glad I visited and highly recommend it! Looking forward to visiting again.

The best froyo and the cutest place in town! The owner was super nice and welcoming, loved the froyo(I loved the original flavor with cheese cake topping) and the 붕어빵 with Nutella. They were all great!! If you are looking for a place to hang out with your friends or just to chill and relax with some sweets, I highly recommend this place!! Cannot wait to try coffee and more desserts next time!

Extremely cute and aesthetically pleasing interior, great study environment. I had the London Fog drink, and it was exceptional. The service was also quick. If you're into a more fruity tea, I recommend the Citron Honey tea, however the selection is accommodating to all tastes. They also have deserts as well! Highly recommended if you're in the area!

This cafe is a hidden gem in baltimore and is located in federal hill- not too far from federal hill park. It's been around for 12 years and the owner is really nice! I tried the mango shake and frozen yogurt. The mango shake is a perfect pairing for summer, and the frozen yogurt is a healty and tasty alternative to ice cream. Lots of seatong also available, but it is not open till late- but it is worth doing an early dinner to hit this spot after.
